We know that cars have problems with their electronic throttle control system – causing engines to shut down or speed up on their own — but now Boeing has announced that its Dreamliner 787 has a software glitch in its electronic throttle control system.
Industry Week reported that the U.S. “Federal Aviation Administration has ordered repairs to correct a software bug that could cause the aircraft to suddenly lose all power . . . leading to a loss of aircraft control.”
The bug was discovered after a military plane crash in Spain that killed four people, although it is not known at this time what caused the crash in Spain. (May 9, 2015)
